On the weekend of September 22 and 23 the inaugural OverTheBaas bike festival was held in Talybont.

Despite the weather, brave riders turned out and headed into the the mountains with most opting to ride the long 28 mile loop. Returning soaked through after a fun but arduous ride, they all agreed it was a testing and exciting route.

Throughout the day there were cycling related activities at the local village hall with tyre throwing, bicycle scalextric, skills competitions and local BMX hero, Matti Hemmings doing amazing displays and teaching local riders some of his record breaking skills. The fun continued into the evening with biking films and bands in the local pubs.

Sunday dawned brighter, and again riders headed into the hills, this time accompanied by riders from Brecon Inclusive Sports Association. Another great day’s mountain biking was enjoyed by all who took part. Bikes and Hikes and OverTheBaas Mountain Bikers would like to thank all riders, marshalls and everyone who helped and supported this event.

Look out for next year’s dates!
