RADNORSHIRE Men’s Premier League team hosted Merthyr in the Club Championships last Saturday.

They won well on three rinks, including that of Robert Weale, brother David and young Sam Roff, and two draws, with defeat on the remaining rink, to be victorious overall.

However they could have gained two more points, but for two rinks conceding three, captain Luke Harwood’s four and seven shots by Kevin Stephens quartet meaning the home team had to be content with draws on those rinks.

So it was a good day for the Radnorshire Men because 18 points were gained towards their tally for the season so far and confidence for the coming weeks.

Totals Radnorshire 124 Merthyr 96 shots.

Radnorshire Men’s Sunday squad completed a very successful weekend for the club’s male section, when they beat Blaenau Gwent away in the Team Championships.

The visitors won two out of the three rinks played, and the final score was Radnorshire 63 Blaenau Gwent 50 shots.

The Radnorshire Ladies travelled to Islwyn last Saturday morning and came up against a strong home team, losing on both rinks by 21 to 18, losing four shots on the penultimate end and 20 shots to 18, although they gained nine shots in three ends they still lost by two shots, the overall total being Radnorshire 36 Islwyn 41.

This weekend, Radnorshire Men’s Premier League side will be looking to pick up more points when they play at Llanelli in the Club Championships. In the Team Championships on Sunday Radnorshire Men are away at Glynrhondda.

Ysie White who plays indoors for Radnorshire has been chosen for the 2016 Junior Indoor International squad. Whilst reflecting their success indoors in recent years, four members of Radnorshire Ladies, namely Betty Morgan MBE, Wendy Price, Pauline Wilson and Paula Summerfield, have been picked for the first Senior Trial at Llanelli Indoor Bowling Centre on Sunday November 15.
