Brecon Corries are still looking for their first win of the new year following a 3-1 defeat at Undy in the Ardal League South East, writes Paul Worts.
Corries were against the wind in the first half and conceded when Ben Smith scored following a counter-attack. Undy grabbed a second when an Oliver Smith corner was deflected into his own net by Liam McAnally at the near post.
Paul Keddle, back from suspension, came on at half-time and injected some energy into the side, but Brecon were hit on another counter-attack with Lewis Pinchard extending Undy’s lead. Corries, however, then went on to dominate the second half but saw chances go begging, and when substitute Ossian Wiltshire did reduce the deficit, it was too little, too late.
Corries manager Damien Daniels said frankly: “If you don’t put the ball in the back of the net, then you don’t win football matches.”
Corries will host Abertillery Bluebirds on Saturday for their next league game, kick-off at 2pm.
