S.E.A. Dragons, a Brecon-based esports team, has joined the British Forces Broadcasting Service Esports Pro League.

The league is based around the video game Rocket League. The competition is built around the UK Armed Forces and wider defence community, and is one of the main esports competitions linked to that space.

In the previous season, the league carried a prize pool of £10,500, and it is considered as a strong competition. The league includes teams connected to serving personnel, veterans, MOD civil servants, reservists, cadets, immediate family members and the wider bereaved community.

Founder of the team, and former Brecon High School student, Patryk Bialowas told The Brecon & Radnor Express: “That is what makes this opportunity feel particularly important for us. S.E.A. Dragons appear to be one of the only clubs involved from outside that kind of in-house military or defence structure, but we are still a Brecon-based club representing a town with a long and proud Armed Forces connection.

“For us, entering the BFBS Pro League was not just about adding another competition to the calendar, it was really about making sure Brecon and Powys had a presence in a competition that naturally connects with part of the town’s identity.

“One of the main reasons S.E.A. Dragons was created was to show that esports opportunities can be built from places like Brecon, not just major cities or larger organisations. We have had a strong period in the Welsh Esports League and have competed in UK and European events, but our wider aim is to use those opportunities to open doors locally for players, coaches, analysts, casters, content creators and volunteers.

“The BFBS Pro League gives us another chance to represent the area respectfully, showcase what is possible from Powys, and hopefully encourage more people locally to get involved in future seasons.”

S.E.A. Dragons’ Rocket League roster for the competition is: Lyon, Ritzy ,MrSpud777, and Kiza990, along with Coach Connor “Faizye” Chittock.

The competition is made up of four qualifiers, with teams earning points towards qualification for the LAN finals in London this September.

Connor Chittock, S.E.A. Dragons’ Rocket League coach and manager, also said: “We’re really looking forward to the rest of the competition. The team has already shown that we’re capable of pushing towards LAN qualification, which is the main goal for us now. It’s also a great opportunity to have S.E.A. Dragons representing Brecon and Powys in a competition connected to the Armed Forces and wider defence community.”
