THE final Elan Valley 5K series road race took place last week.
The results from the series, which is organised by Rhayader AC are as follows: first senior male was unattached runner Robin Woods, with Builth Wells athlete Donna Morris winning the senior female event. The male over 40’s winner was David Manuel of Maldwyn Harriers with Rhayader AC’s Mary Morton winning the female over 35 race.
Phil Kendrick of Brecon AC triumphed in the over 50’s section whilst Gunver Troelson of Builth Wells was first female over 45. First man over 70 was John Evans of Aberystwyth AC and fellow Aber runner Jane Bailey was first female over 55. Rhayader’s Carol Farrington was first woman home over 70. Sion Coyle from Brecon AC was the first junior male.
The club also organised a one mile race for youngsters and Tegan Ward of Brecon AC took the high school girls’ prize with Iwan Coyle placing first in the boys’ high school race. Primary school winners were Ewan Lewis and Rheanna Morgan Rogers in the boys and girls race respectively.
Rachel Evans, Rhayader AC’s race organisers said: "It’s been a great series with excellent support from both senior athletes and youngsters. Standards were high but more importantly runners of all abilities and ages turned up and enjoyed the races. Once again I have to thank all the volunteers who make the races possible."
