Brecon Corries ended their Ardal League South East campaign with a 3-2 defeat at home against Chepstow Town.

Manager Damien Daniels was disappointed as his depleted side surrendered a two-goal lead and ended the afternoon with nine men following red cards for Jay Ryan Hughes and Paul Keddle.

Corries were without their quartet of Evans brothers and fielded a number of youngsters, while Jack Bain was drafted in for his first start of the term.

But they were excellent in the first half, with Jay Ryan Hughes handing them the lead with a superb finish from a Jamie Williams cross. Experienced keeper Stephen Price pulled off two good saves before Jamie Williams doubled the advantage, cutting in from the left and beating two defenders before slotting home.

Corries tired in the second half and Adam Wakley pulled a goal back for Chepstow. Mason Keepin-Davies levelled the scores on 70 minutes and Corries were reduced to 10 men when Hughes saw a straight red. Keepin-Davies grabbed his second to put Chepstow ahead and Corries’ hopes of salvaging anything disappeared when Keddle picked up a second yellow card, which even Chepstow felt was an injustice.

So Corries finish 13th in the league table after a more than decent season, but would have been seventh were it not for their 15-point deduction by the FAW, which many feel was rather harsh on the club.
