Harry Edwards scored twice and Ciaran Price grabbed the winner as Builth Wells Reserves came from behind to beat nine-man Knighton Town Reserves 3-2 in the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) on Friday night.
The Bulls registered their first win of the season in an action-packed night on The Lant Field.
Early goals from Cain Martin and Taylor Wozencraft appeared to have put Knighton in the driving seat but a five-minute spell midway through the first half turned the game on its head. Harry Edwards reduced the deficit and Knighton then saw Henry Shaw and Jack Davies sent off in quick succession. Knighton dug in to protect their lead and did so until 79 minutes when 16-year-old starlet, Edwards equalised with Price netting a third for Builth just four minutes later. But that was not the end of the drama with both coaches, Nick Cadwallader (Knighton) and Brad Rollinson (Builth) receiving red cards right at the end from referee, Callum Richards.
Llandrindod Wells picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over St Harmon at The Broadway. Darren Murphy gave the Spa Men the lead before half-time and they doubled their advantage in the second half as Richie Powell fired home from a Fin Francis corner. Adam Young pulled one back for St Harmon with 10 minutes remaining, but Llandrindod held on to secure the victory
The shock result of the night saw Hay Development pick up a point in a 1-1 draw with Hay St Marys. Having conceded 14 in their opening fixture, this was a terrific response from the young Development side who took an early lead through Charlie Williams. And that strike separated the teams for much of the night until Dave Thomas spared Hay’s blushes by firing home a free-kick in stoppage time.
