Knighton Town and Brecon Corries were both in the goals as they enjoyed high-scoring victories last weekend as they look towards the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

Knighton Town started their preparations for the new season with a 4-1 victory over MMP with Norman Lloyd Central Wales League (North) opponents Carno at Bryn-y-Castell.

Harry Stokes' charges had seen their first pre-season fixture seven days earlier when Llanidloes Town were unable to field a team for the fixture. Callum Stead and Sam Hoyle both had chances for the hosts in the opening half-hour, who had summer signing Shane Sutton on the substitutes bench, as Josh Hatrick looked most likely to find the back of the net for Carno.

The Radnor Robins broke the deadlock in the 33rd minutes when Henry Shaw netted from close-range after the hosts had pounced on an error by the Montgomeryshire club in their own penalty area.

Carno were back on level terms 19 minutes later when an under-hit clearance by goalkeeper Ben Davies enabled the visitors to find the back of the net from 25 yards.

Summer signing Will Evans regained the lead for Knighton Town after the Ty Brith club could only partially clear a 65th-minute corner and his 25-yard shot found the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar.

The defender netted his second goal of the evening five minutes later with a low strike.

Callum Stead completed the scoring with four minutes remaining when he drove towards goal and fired a low effort past Nick Cadwallader.

The Radnor Robins continue their preparations for the Lock Stock Ardal North East campaign when they host Forden United on Tuesday night at Bryn-y-Castell before travelling to Clee Hill United on Wednesday, July 16.

Brecon Corries continued their preparations for the new Elite Stands Ardal South East campaign with a 7-1 victory over South Wales Premier League opponents Heolgerrig Red Lion at the Rich Field.

The hosts opened the scoring as early as the fifth minute when Joel Evans was played through on goal before maintaining his composure to slide the ball past the advancing Heolgerrig goalkeeper.

The Merthyr Tydfil League champions, who featured former Hereford United and West Ham United star Gavin Williams in their line-ups, were back on level terms five minutes later courtesy of a 25-yard curling effort that nestled in the top corner of Steve Price's goal.

Brecon Corries regained the lead on the stroke of half-time when recent signing Jay Ryan's deflected shot from the edge of the penalty area found the back of the net.

The lead was extended five minutes after the break when substitute Jack Biggs headed home at the far post.

A fourth goal arrived on the hour mark courtesy of Luke Roughley's deflected strike from the edge of the penalty area.

Jamie Williams played in Leo Davies to lift the ball over the keeper in the 74th minute before Williams headed in within 60 seconds of the restart.

The scoring was completed with nine minutes of the match remaining through a Matt Jones strike.

The Rich Field club conclude their pre-season fixtures on Friday evening when they face Elite Stands UK Ardal South west outfit Seven Sisters Onllwyn before heading to Canton in their opening league match on Saturday, July 19.
