DARREN Horrigan scored twice, including the winner as Hay St Marys Reserves edged a 3-2 verdict at Talgarth Town in the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South).
A mix-up in the defence allowed Kyle Harding to put The Saints ahead but Ben Sharman drew Talgarth level, Horrigan restored Hay’s lead from the penalty spot but Tom Pavey again put Talgarth back on terms with a 30 yard lob.
Horrigan snatched it for Hay when he ghosted in to convert a free-kick at the back post to give The Saints a first league win since September.
St Harmon proved their win against Presteigne Reserves the previous week was no flash in the pan as The Swifts dented Knighton Town with a 3-2 victory at Bryn-y-Castell.
The Swifts opened up an early two goal lead through veteran Hywel Evans and James Price. St Harmon extended their advantage with a 25 yard free-kick from Aaron Bates midway through the second half and although Jack Brindley and Jordan Griffiths netted for Knighton in the last five minutes it was too little too late for The Robins.
Brecon Northcote had a day best forgotten crashing to an 8-1 defeat across the border in Newcastle. Northcote had trailed 3-1 at half-time but the Shropshire men, who had not won one of their previous six, cranked up a gear in the second half with Craig Morris, Carl Price, Matthew Jones and Simon Oakley all scoring twice.
