Second half goals from Joey Price, Sam Sainsbury and Charlie Beaumont earned Radnor Valley a massive three points in the Ardal League North East as they triumphed 3-1 at local rivals, Builth Wells.
A look at the league table suggested it was a game both needed to win and it was Radnor who went home with the spoils which move them into the top half.
Radnor possibly edged the first half but there were few chances at either end although Ieuan Price saw a free-kick narrowly deflected over for the visitors while Sainsbury went close after latching on to Jack Clarke’s flick.
Builth broke the deadlock early in the second period with two of their 16 year olds combining as Seth Bridgeman put Harry Edwards through and he shrugged off a defender before calmly slotting home. Radnor immediately brought Joey Price off the bench and within two minutes he had levelled the scores with a rasping 25 yard free-kick which Builth keeper Kham Steventon got his hands to but could not keep out.
Radnor went in front when Henry Shipley freed Sainsbury down the left and he scored from a tight angle despite strong Builth claims for off-side which certainly looked valid. And there was no way back for the Bulls when Radnor added a third as Jack Clarke’s low cross found Joey Price at the near post and in the scramble that ensued, Charlie Beaumont hammered home the loose ball.

Meanwhile, Knighton Town maintained their unbeaten start to the league campaign in a goalless draw at fellow title rivals, Corwen. The Radnor Robins were boosted by a tremendous travelling support who made the journey to North Wales. Those supporters will be disappointed not to have seen a Knighton win after finishing the game the stronger but at the end of the day this could well be a point gained rather than two dropped in what was an evenly contested affair.
Llandrindod Wells also picked up an away point and were indebted to substitute Rueben Baker who grabbed a 90th minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw at Llangollen Town. The home side, yet to record a win in the league, took a first half lead through William Cooke. Llandrindod, without key players, came out in the second half in determined fashion and Danny Hall equalised with a great strike into the top corner when Robbie Nicholls picked him out. A rather soft penalty saw Cooke restore Llangollen’s lead and as the clock ticked down it looked as if that would be it. But Baker finished superbly from a Ruben Edwards cross and Llandrindod might have won it in stoppage time when Tom Durant netted only to see his celebrations cut short by an offside flag.
Kerry’s Ed Clarke scored even later to earn The Lambs an important 2-1 victory at home against Llanrhaeadr. Will Roberts-Morris had given Llanrhaeadr an interval lead but Luke Mumford equalised with a free-kick before former Llanidloes Town captain Clarke struck deep in stoppage time.
Shock of the day was at Cefn Albion where the home side, second in the table, fell to a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Llanfair United whose player-manager Karl Seliaerts and Tomos Jones each scored twice.
Rhys Hughes, Taylor Watts and an own goal helped Bow Street to a 3-1 win at Rhos Aelwyd while Zac Davies made it back to back hat-tricks as Penycae won 3-1 at Lex.
