RADNOR Valley are though to the fourth round of the FAW Trophy after winning their rearranged fixture with Caersws after extra time.

Forward Joey Price was the hero on the night completing his hat-trick with only two minutes of extra time remaining to seal the victory.

The Goats had been due to travel to their MMP Mid Wales League Division 1rivals on Saturday but the heavy rainfall across Powys, and much of Wales, meant the game couldn’t go ahead.

But it was rearranged for last night and both sides served up a thriller at the Recreation Ground in Montgomeryshire with Radnor downing the Bluebirds 5-4.

The hosts opened the scoring after just four minutes but Joey Price ensured Radnor would lead going into half time, scoring twice in the first half including from the penalty spot.

Caersws equalised early in the second half after adopting a direct approach.

Caersws again scored first in the first half of extra time which prompted another response from the visitors.

The home side thought they had snatched the game, and a place in the fourth round, when they scored a fourth goal with only eight minutes of extra time remaining.

But the Goats grabbed a fourth goal of their own and with penalties looming Price scored his third and Radnor’s fifth on the night.

In other action last night Presteigne St Andrews lost 8-2 at Welshpool side Waterloo Rovers in the first round of the MMP Mid Wales League (ER Jenkins) Division 2 Cup while in the east Brecknock derby in the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) Talgarth Town pulled off a 2-0 away win at Hay St Mary’s.
