BRECON FC continue to fly the flag for the Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) in this season’s Emrys Morgan Cup.

The South Powys side, who only reformed at the start of the season, are through to the quarter finals of the areas major junior Cup competition after an excellent 2-1 victory at Forden United.

In terrible conditions, Brecon had far the better of the first half but found themselves trailing when Lewis Sim gave the Montgomery Amateur League side the lead.

Nathan Collacott got the ball, in the net only to be denied by an off-side flag but Brecon maintained their composure in the second half with the influential Rhodri Boosey levelling when he headed in Jack Bain’s quickly taken free-kick.

Both sides, who have applied for promotion to the Spar Mid Wales League next season, had chances but it was Brecon who got the all important score when Louis Pritchard latched on to Kyle O’Shea’s through ball to set up a quarter final tie at Dewi Stars this Saturday, February 13.
