HAY St Marys climbed into the top six in the Spar Mid Wales league first division with a 4-2 home win against bottom of the table, Montgomery Town.

The Saints found themselves trailing to a Jack Biggs own goal but a double from the ever reliable Brendan Hackett saw them in front by half-time. Montgomery equalised early in the second half but Biggs atoned for his earlier misdemeanour by edging Hay in front again before Steve Morgan sealed the win with a fourth goal.

Radnor Valley picked up a creditable point in a 2-2 draw with third placed Carno. Radnor led twice through Joey Price and Geraint Lloyd but Carno hit back with Richie Evans and Andy Evans and might have snatched all three points in the closing stages.

Knighton Town had a day they will wish to forget after being hammered 6-0 at Tywyn Bryncrug who had only won once previously all season. The Radnor Robins were very much depleted and never at the races as Mark Edmonson scored four times for Tywyn with Tom Allen Davies and Nick Williams also on target.

Berriew closed the gap on Rhayader to just a point after coming from behind to win 3-1 at Machynlleth with goals from Karl Seliaerts, Matt Mumford and Richard Davies.

An early header from Dean Evans earned Bow Street a 1-0 win at Llanidloes Town while Aberaeron defeated Welshpool Town 2-0 thanks to Sion Clarke and Gareth Evans.
