A MAGNIFICENT away performance saw Rhayader Town score seven goals on their Tuesday night trip to Knighton Town.
The 7-1 victory moves the Thin Red Line to within two points of second placed Newbridge in the MMP Mid Wales League Division Two and with a game in hand but having played a game more than Waterloo Rovers who also have 12 points. Penparcau lead the table with 15 points from five games while Rhayader have 10 from five.
The visitors had a commanding 5-0 lead by half-time at Bryn y Castell with and still added two to the home sides solitary effort in the second half.
Goal scorers for Rhayader were Jamie Evans, Taylor Wozencraft, Jack Francis, Tommy Rowlands and Joe Wozencraft.
On Saturday Rhayader Town face Division 1 side Bow Street, away, in the FAW Trophy having knocked the same opponents out of the Welsh Cup a fortnight ago in a shock 2-1 victory. This Saturday’s tie takes place at the Ceredigion side’s home ground.
All eyes on Saturday are likely to be on the Rich Field in Brecon where Watson Financial Mid Wales League (South) leaders Brecon Corries host ninth place Felindre.
Corries put 27 goals past 11th placed Knighton Town Reserves last time out and have a maximum 18 points from six games having scored 73 goals and having only conceded one. Felindre have one win and a draw this season having scored 10 and conceded 14 goals.
