Rhayader Town head for Llangollen Town in the Ardal League North East on Saturday looking for much-needed points.

A look at the league table suggests Rhayader need to start winning sooner rather than later if they are to maintain their Tier Three status.

They currently stand six points behind Llangollen with a game in hand so it is a proverbial six pointer at the weekend.

Manager, Dylan McPhee admitted Saturday is a big game but they are all big games now for Rhayader.

McPhee said: “We have just got to keep going.

“The fact we have only scored 15 goals in 16 league games is a problem.”

He had been keen to sign a new striker but attempts through the January transfer window failed.

Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells are also on the road in the Ardal North East with Builth Wells travelling to Bow Street.

It could be a testing afternoon for The Bulls with Bow Street third in the table but Builth beat them 2-0 at home back in October with goals from Jamie Evans and Lyndon Jones. And last weekend’s result against leaders, Caersws will have Builth full of confidence.

Christian Jones is still ruled out but otherwise Builth should be at full strength with Jack Hammond and Rudi Griffiths returning after missing Sunday’s Cup defeat.

Llandrindod are away at Llanrhaeadr looking to extend their recent winning run to five.

The sides drew 2-2 on The Broadway back in November since which Llanrhaeadr have won four out of five in the league to ease their relegation fears.

The in-form Spa men are then in action again next Wednesday night when they entertain Caersws in the 3rd Round of the Central Wales Cup before their big FAW Amateur Trophy tie at Cardiff Corinthians the following weekend.

In the Ardal League South East, Brecon Corries are facing a tough run of fixtures with three of their next four games against the current top three in the division.

On Saturday, Damien Daniels’ side welcome second placed Abertillery Bluebirds to The Rich Field.

Hay St Marys and Radnor Valley continue their fight for the MMP Central Wales League (South) title with Hay, who have brought in Darren Brown as an addition to their coaching team, at home against Tregaron while Radnor visit Machynlleth.

Both will be keen for good performances and results leading into the following weekend when the two clash under the Forest Road floodlights.

Knighton Town are at home against Talgarth Town looking to bounce back from the disappointment of their Central Wales Cup defeat last weekend.

Presteigne St Andrews will be targeting a rare three points when they welcome Aberaeron to Llanandras Park.

When the sides met in Aberaeron, Presteigne forged a two goal lead before eventually falling to a narrow 3-2 defeat.

Bottom of the table Penybont United face a daunting trip to Penparcau where it could be a case of damage limitation with the Min-y-Ddol side having won six on a row prior to their defeat at Welshpool Town in the Central Wales Cup on Sunday.

Penparcau have games in hand on the top two but it is going to take a mammoth effort if they are to finish above Hay and Radnor.
