YOUNG Radnorshire athlete Heidi Davies will be a member of the Great Britain team taking part in the World Mountain Running Championships in Italy next month.

The Llandrindod Wells runner gained a place after finishing second in a trial race for the UK's junior mountain running team in the Yorkshire Dales last weekend.

Llandrindod High School pupil Heidi, who regularly trains on the hills near her home, took on the best of the fell running fraternity across the home nations on a tough course in Sedburgh and, after a powerful mid race performance, came home in second.
