LLANDRINDOD Wells runner Heidi Davies (pictured), who is sponsored by the family-run Metropole Hotel, has just won a major mountain running event in Malonno, Italy.

Heidi also helped the GB team to overall victory.

Malonno holds a special place for Heidi who first ran there in 2017.

She said: “It’s a special place because it blends the mountain running spirit so well with the enthusiasm of the fans, creating a truly unique experience.

“Returning to Malonno again this year was a humbling experience and I was so pleased to race so well against some of the world’s top mountain runners – it really was a pleasant surprise! It’s hard to describe the emotions, but I’m already looking forward to next year.

“And, as ever, I am grateful to The Metropole for their continued support, and keen interest in my running career,” she adds.

Justin Baird-Murray, MD of the four-star Metropole, and his wife Judy, who runs the hotel’s spa, are both keen runners and compete in marathons all over the world. Justin recently gained his six majors medal for competing successfully in six key international marathons, among them London and New York, while Judy is on course for her own six majors achievement.

Justin said: “We are delighted to be able to help Heidi achieve her aims and ambitions. She works extremely hard, and has made a successful transition from junior to senior status, and each year builds on the success of the previous season.”
