A PUPIL from Ysgol Y Cribarth will soon be fighting for her place at the 2016 European Equestrian Championships.
McKenzie Norton, 10, has been riding since she was 16 months old and has been a member of Banwen Pony Club and The Mounted Games of Great Britain Association since the age of three. Her love for this sport and her ability to compete has started since then.
At the age of nine, Mackenzie was selected to ride in the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells along with the Senior Banwen Pony Club Team. It was at this age that she was also selected to represent Wales in France for the European competition.
In 2015 after many gruelling sessions, Mackenzie qualified for the World Individuals under 12s semi final competition, held at The David Broome Equestrian Centre and on April 23, she will be trailing once again at David Broome’s for a place in the Welsh Team to compete at the 2016 European Championships which will be held in Germany this Summer.
Mum, Rachel Norton said: "Mackenzie has been riding her amazing horse Meg since she was seven years old and the partnership and trust they have is truly amazing. Together, they train four times a week and compete every weekend all over the country. They really are a force to be reckoned with and without a doubt will reach the top in this equestrian sport."
