The 2026 ACU British Enduro Championship roared into Mid Wales last weekend with the opening rounds hosted by Rhayader & District Motor Cycle Club at their Cwmythig Hill venue.

Local County Councillors Angela Davies and Geoff Morgan, Vice Chairman of Powys County Council, were on hand to flag off reigning British Champion, Manxman Jamie McCanney (No. 68), and Jack Edmondson (No. 118).

Day one delivered a nail-biting contest, with just 11 seconds separating the top two. Jack Edmondson edged out Jamie McCanney for the win, while Jed Etchells claimed third, narrowly ahead of local rider Alex Walton by just two-tenths of a second. Other local riders performed strongly: Tom Sagar finished 11th, Rees Jones 12th, and Sion Evans 13th. In the Expert class, Cornishman Josh Lawer took first, followed by Frasier Lampkin, with Crossgates’ Kris Price in third and Penybont’s Jack Probert sixth. Dinas Mawddwy’s Ceri Wyn-Jones topped the Clubman Women’s class.

The second day saw more intense racing. Jamie McCanney claimed the top spot, with Jed Etchells second and Jack Edmondson third. Alex Walton again finished fourth. Oswestry’s Sam Hughes was seventh, with Llanidloes’ Rees Jones in 10th and Sion Evans 12th. Kris Price improved to take first in the Expert class, followed by Frasier Lampkin and Josh Lawer in third. In the Clubman ranks, Rhayader’s Ben Evans finished fourth, while Ceri Wyn-Jones repeated her class win and Builth’s Luke Powell took victory in the Over-40 class.
