The British Enduro Championship returned to Llanidloes at the weekend through Hafren Dirt Bike Club.
Despite forecasts of heavy rain, the event largely escaped the worst of the weather, and competitors enjoyed near-perfect conditions - albeit on a shorter course than usual due to land access issues.
The Championship class was once again dominated by the Triumph pairing of Sweden’s Mickel Persson and Manxman Jamie McCanney, along with PAR Homes-sponsored Jack Edmondson. The trio continue to show their superiority over the field, with Persson taking the win ahead of teammate McCanney, and Edmondson finishing third.
Local riders made their mark in the 125cc class, with Llanidloes’ Rees Jones finishing second on Saturday and third on Sunday. In the Under-23 class, Sam Davies of Llandrindod claimed victory on Sunday after finishing runner-up the day before, while Builth Wells’ Tomos Wright secured two seventh-place finishes.
In the Expert classes, Cross Gates’ Kris Price improved from sixth on day one to second on day two in the E1 250cc category, while Rhydian Rees of Cilmery moved up from seventh to sixth in the same class. In the E2 class (for 450cc four-strokes), Llanbister’s Shaun Buchan delivered a solid performance with two third-place finishes. Similarly, in the E3 Clubman class, Rhayader’s Ben Evans also secured a pair of thirds. Builth’s Luke Powell claimed third place on both days in the Over 40 class.

In the growing women’s classes, Nantmel’s Rheanna Morgan Rogers finished fifth on day one and improved to fourth on day two in the Elite Women’s category, while Ceri Wyn Jones of Dinas secured back-to-back wins in the Clubman Women’s class.
The next major enduro event in the area is the Welsh Two Day, taking place in a few weeks, followed by the highly anticipated return of the EnduroGP of Wales to Rhayader at the start of August.
