Despite persistent rain showers, the Rhayader & District Motor Cycle & Light Car Club’s Billy Mills Trial attracted over 50 riders to the Saintswell Enduro Centre, held by the kind permission of Adam Rees.
County Councillor Geoff Morgan was on hand to flag off competitors on the four-lap course, which included mud, streams, and rocks that proved slippery in the wet conditions.
In the hotly contested Intermediate class, South Wales visitor Jason Galvin narrowly beat Cemmaes Road’s Meilyr Evans by two marks, with Gavin Richards third and Mark Vaughan fourth. On the same route, Old Radnor’s Marvin Brookes claimed the Youth Intermediate title, while his father, Scott Brookes, took the Clubman class on 20 marks. Second and third places in the Clubman category were decided by a tiebreaker, with Keiran Heycock edging out Bryncrug’s Ian Jewell.

In the Pre-65 class, Bishop’s Castle rider Clayton Rowson triumphed on his 500cc Ariel, beating Kevin Ellis on a 250cc Triumph. Llandrindod Wells motorcycle dealer Steven Plain claimed the Clubman Twinshock class on his Yamaha. Other winners included Allun Hemmings in the Sportsman class, Crossgates’ Tim Davies in the Sportsman Twinshock class, and Corris’ Megan Roberts, who topped the Youth Easy category ahead of Bromsgrove’s Gethin Hughes.
The club expressed its thanks to the landowner, all competitors, and especially the observers, who braved the weather to ensure the smooth running of the event.
