ARDAL LEAGUE NORTH EAST
Chris Bartholomew rescued a point for Builth Wells with the last kick of the game as The Bulls came from two down to draw 2-2 in the local derby at Radnor Valley in the Ardal League North East.
Radnor’s Joey Price hit the bar with a thunderous 25 yard strike before their talisman opened the scoring from the penalty spot when Builth ‘keeper, Kham Steventon’s aerial challenge on Jack Clarke was deemed illegal. When Price added a well taken second goal after the break after being slipped through by the impressive Clarke it looked a long way back for a Builth side lacking belief. But a red card for Clarke on the hour following a challenge on Chris Roff out on the touch line changed the game.
Radnor were further hampered by the loss of Sam Sainsbury to injury with it later revealed that the former Knighton Town midfielder had broken his ankle. Builth sensed their opportunity and Alex Hicks headed over when Jamie Evans pulled the ball back but The Bulls did reduce the arrears through substitute, Bartholomew who pounced to score via a post following some poor defending from the hosts. Aled Rees volleyed over as a youthful Builth pressed but when Roff headed narrowly over from a Harry Edwards corner deep in stoppage time it looked to be game over. But with seven minutes of added time played, Bartholomew struck with a low shot from just outside the box to give Builth a priceless point and one which their second half effort certainly deserved.

Knighton Town returned to winning ways with a convincing 5-1 home success over strugglers, Llangollen Town with Luke Boundford and Taylor Wozencraft each scoring twice. Manager, Harry Stokes was keen for a response following Knighton’s big defeat at Llanuwchllyn the previous week and he got it. The Radnor Robins made changes, some enforced, handing a debut to Josh Bull and the returning Adam Farmer was also in the starting line-up as was Dewi Allen who made his first start after a long injury lay-off. Wozencraft acrobatically opened the scoring from a Farmer assist and Luke Boundford then missed a penalty. But Boundford netted a second spot-kick and Callum Stead increased the lead from distance before half-time. Topscorer, Boundford grabbed his second after the break and Wozencraft completed the nap hand after Whalen Mwebe had pulled one back for the visitors.
Llandrindod Wells saw their recent five match unbeaten run ended as second placed, Cefn Albion left The Broadway with a 2-1 win under their belts. There was little to separate the teams but Alex Williams gave Albion the lead with a penalty in first half stoppage time. Tom Broadhurst doubled their advantage early in the second half to leave Llandrindod with a mountain to climb. Stuart Williams pulled one back late on from a superb Shaun Nicholls pass but it was too late to affect the outcome.
Bottom of the table, Lex X1 had caused an upset earlier in the week by booking the remaining spot in the 2nd Round of the Ardal Northern League Cup with Tiler Moorcroft-Jones and Seb Kidd guiding them to a 2-1 win at Dolgellau whose Gerwyn Williams pulled a goal back.
WATSON FINANCIAL MID WALES LEAGUE (SOUTH)
Honours were even in the top of the table clash in the Watson Financial Mid Wales League(South) as Brecon FC and Talgarth Town shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the BSA Sports Field.
Tom Sharman-Jones drew first blood for Talgarth but Tom Morgan equalised five minutes before half-time. Morgan then put Brecon ahead on the hour but Kyle O’Shea netted Talgarth’s second – his sixth of the season - to ensure it ended all square. The result leaves Talgarth a point behind leaders, Hay St Marys while Brecon are three points behind Hay but have a game in hand.
In Saturday’s other league game, Rhayader Town Development consolidated fourth spot in the table with a big 7-0 victory over Llanidloes Town Reserves. Sion Herman, Tom Groves and Gareth Hughes put Rhayader three goals to the good by half-time. The influential Hughes added his second after the break before Sam Crumpton weighed in with a hat-trick to complete the win.
Supporters at Forest Road were given a Halloween treat as Hay St Marys beat Penybont United 8-3 in the first round of the Pip Samuel (Electrical) Mid Wales (South) League Cup on Friday night. Topscorer, Ricky Lynes was again the Saints’ main man with two goals and five asssits. Darren Horrigan picked up two goals and two assists with Harry Gilbert, Tom Gardiner, Charlie Ward and Ed Walkden also on target. Penybont replied through Alwalid Bsais (2), his first goals for The Polecats, and Harry Bufton.
Knighton Town Reserves are also through following a 4-3 success at St Harmon where Jason Davies put them ahead. Goals either side of half-time from Owen Hughes and Harry Powell then saw The Swifts in front but the lead changed hands again as Louis Scott and Leon Morris struck for Knighton. Dan Powell netted a third for St Harmon and a penalty shoot out looked on the cards until Scott’s second won it for Knighton two minutes from time.
MMP CENTRAL WALES LEAGUES
Rhayader Town are out of the MMP Central Wales League Cup after a disappointing 5-4 defeat at Llanidloes Town where they surrendered a 3-1 lead and finished the tie with nine men. Ollie Leadbetter had Rhayader ahead after just four minutes but Kai Evans levelled for The Daffs direct from a corner. Cameron Mills and Rhys Thomas then saw The Kites into a 3-1 lead and they looked in the ascendancy but Steff Marshman reduced the deficit just before half-time. Kai Evans and player-manager, Dafydd Carruthers, once a Rhayader player, then edged a resurgent Llanidloes in front and Rhayader were dealt a blow when Cian Price saw red midway through the second half. Aaron Macken extended the lead for the home side but player-coach, Lance Jones kept Rhayader’s hopes alive with their fourth goal but those hopes ended when Oscar Davies picked up his second yellow card.
JD CYMRU (NORTH)
Newtown stay in touch with the top three after goals from Robert Evans and Louis Jacobs secured a 2-1 verdict at Gresford Athletic while Guilsfield are up to fifth as Adam Hailes, Sam Flory and an own goal gave The Guils a comfortable 3-0 win over Flint Mountain.
