CMJ Motor Sport of Brecon are delighted to announce the new pairing of driver Craig Jones and Shaun Layland as navigator, who will be competing on this year’s Promotive Epynt Challenge Championship, all five rounds hosted on the military ranges of Sennybridge.

Shaun Layland, from Devon, made the trip up to meet Craig and familiarise himself with his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 where he will take the passenger seat, he is very excited to join the CMJ Team.

Craig had exchanged his previous Mitsubishi EVO 4 for the more up to date Evolution 9 version of the four wheel drive, high performance saloon early last year having achieved a number of good results in the old car, his hopes are high of achieving some top results this year.

Shaun is also one of seven members of the Motorsport UK Co-Drivers Academy.

Garage owner Craig Jones of CMJ Motors Brecon is delighted to have the continuing support from local businesses as sponsors to help him and the team fund this year’s challenges. Running costs of the recently upgraded EVO 9 prove to be costly.

There were a few teething issues with the setup of the new Evo on last year’s rounds, but nothing that top motorsport engineer Jez Macwhirter of Macwhirter Motorsport couldn’t sort out.

Rally driver Craig said: “I feel confident with the car and its ready to go. I will be looking to ease in gently on the first round on March 10 this year, as the standard of the competition is very high and I will be looking to push much harder for a good result on the second and third rounds on May 5 and May 26 later in the year.”
