Rhayader Town returned to winning ways in the MMP Central Wales League (South) with a comfortable 5-0 home success over bottom of the table Aberystwyth Town Development, writes Paul Worts.

Bradley Goodwin set The Red Kites on their way heading home from a Stevie Walsh cross. Oscar Davies slotted a second following a free-kick from Mikey Walsh who extended the lead with his long range effort taking a deflection off an Aber defender. Rhayader continued to hold the upper hand after the break and Cian Price added a fourth from a Danny Hall through ball before Hall completed the nap hand.

Rhayader have strengthened their squad with the return of Warren McFadden while also completing the transfers of Danny Hall from Llandrindod Wells and Bradley Rollinson from Builth Wells Reserves. But back to back draws prior to Saturday however mean Rhayader, who are unbeaten in their last six in the league, can ill afford to drop many more points if they are to be serious contenders for promotion.

Rhayader’s was the only game to survive the weather in the division while in the MMP Central Wales League (North), Carno extended their lead at the top with a 5-0 win against Welshpool Town. Gareth Owen gave Carno an interval lead and Iwan Jerman, Josh Hartrick, Norton Collins and substitute, Sam Williams netted in the second half.

Waterloo Rovers have possibly gone under the radar but are ten points behind Carno with four games in hand following their 5-0 verdict over Abermule. Steve Jones scored twice with Tom Ellis, Henry Watkins and David Roberts completing the nap hand for Rovers who have submitted a planning application for a new stand and floodlights.

In the day’s other game, Llanfyllin Town and Dyffryn Bawn drew 1-1 after Llanfyllin’s Lewis Makin was sent off on the half hour mark.
