BRECON’s very own Paralympic table tennis player is celebrating a hard-fought win.

Rob Davies kicked off the table tennis competition with a victory in the men’s singles class one match against Switzerland’s Silvio Keller on Thursday.

The world number one won 13-11, 11-4, 11-13, 9-11, 11-2 and will now face Italian Andrea Borgato today.

After the game Rob said: "It was a matter of battling in the first end but I came back well. Hopefully I can play better in my next match and be a bit more clinical.

"In the last set I just focused a lot more and put into practice how I can play. I’ve got to take that now into my next match against Borgato."

Rob is in action later today and will kick off his second match at 4.20pm.
