Christ College Brecon has announced the appointment of former Welsh International and British & Irish Lions rugby player Jonathan Davies as its new Director of Elite Performance.

Davies, who enjoyed a distinguished career at the highest levels of professional rugby, will bring his experience, insight, and leadership to the role, supporting pupils across sport, academics, music, drama, and beyond. The position is designed to foster the mindset and behaviours that underpin elite performance, helping pupils unlock their full potential.

“I am delighted to begin my role as Director of Elite Performance at Christ College,” said Davies.

“This is a unique opportunity to help shape the development of pupils not only in sport, but also in other areas of talent. Having already spent time at the school over the summer, connecting with staff and meeting pupils, I am eager to work alongside such a dedicated team. Together, we will aim to develop, support, and inspire pupils as they strive for excellence.”

A spokesperson for the school said: “We are thrilled to welcome Jonathan to our team. His experience and passion will be a tremendous asset to our school community. His appointment underlines the school’s mission to provide an environment where every pupil is encouraged to pursue excellence in all aspects of school life.”

Davies, who played at centre, earned 96 caps for Wales between 2009 and 2022, scoring 16 tries, and featured on the 2013 and 2017 British & Irish Lions tours. At club level, he played for Llanelli, Scarlets, and Clermont Auvergne. Renowned for his all-round game, Davies combined opportunistic try-scoring, kicking, and physicality with a strong defensive presence.
