YSGOL Dolafon hosted a rugby tournament for local primary schools.

Irfon Valley, Newbridge, Builth Wells, Llanelwedd and Franksbrige schools all attended and the day consisted of some fantastic rugby.

The winners of this years tournament were the hosts Ysgol Dolafon. This is the first time Ysgol Dolafon have won the tournament which has been running for nine years. This was a close win by only one try between them and runners up, Llanelwedd.

The referees for the day were Jon Bowen, rugby development officer and Rob Lloyd. Other officials included Jonathan Nash and Mark Connolly.

Cardiff Blues U16 player George Thomas came to visit during the day which was an exciting experience for the pupils.

Fair trade refreshments were served throughout the day by parents and the schools ES Council. Fair trade lemonade and banana cake were also served during the presentation

Jennifer Connolly, festival organiser said: "The win this year for Ysgol Dolafon was even more special for myself as it is the last year I will be organising the event. My co organiser Alison Underhill will be continuing and I wish her and the teams to come all the very best.

"Once again Old Forge Garage Mewla Rally were our sponsors and we really do appreciate their continued support which we have had for the last nine years ensuring that every child who plays leaves with a medal and a trophy for the winning team.

"Eppynt Motor Club supports local charities from spectator car parking funds from last years ‘Old Forge Garage and Mewla Rally’ which was held on the Eppynt ranges last August."
