Ystradgynlais 15 Aberavon Quins 8..

YSTRADGYNLAIS secured the victory of the season with a win over high flying Aberavon Quins.

Division 2 West Central has certainly been a very competitive league with five sides still genuinely in the race for the two promotion places.

Ystradgynlais started the strongest with a quick penalty resulting in a try in corner for Alex Davies. The five points became seven courtesy of a Emyr Lawrence conversion.

The Quins soon hit back with a controversial try for centre Dean Scully but fortunately for the Blues the conversion was missed.

Ystrad who always look to entertain with their play as well as securing results scored a fantastic team try which resulted in the man on form Leighton Llewellyn scoring underneath the posts. Dramatically Emyr Lawrences conversion was charged down under the posts.

The Blues went in at half time well deserving leaders. The second half saw only two scores with a penalty exchange for both sides. Second row Emyr Lawrence made up for his earlier charge down with a fantastic kick.

The game was certainly won in the final quarter thanks to some brave defence and a rejuvenated scrum that disrupted a Quins scrum that had previously held the upper hand. The final whistle was certainly well received by the home support and well deserved four points for Ystradgynlais.
