Team Wiggins are a late addition to the line-up for the OVO Energy Tour of Britain which starts on Sunday (September 2).
The first stage of the race, which will pass through Brecon, begins in Pembrey Country Park in Camarthenshire and finishes in Newport city centre.
Twenty teams of eight riders will begin the race, with Team Wiggins a late replacement for Irish team Aqua Blue Sports.
Team Wiggins was set up by former Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins. The team now rides on the UCI circuit. Leading them will be 19-year-old Tom Pidcock, current Junior World Time Trial Champion and multiple cyclo-cross champion, and 22-year old Gabriel Cullaigh, who won the Rutland-Melton CiCLE Classic this Spring, one of only two single-day UCI-level races in the UK.
Both riders have been in excellent form domestically, each taking an race win during the OVO Energy Tour Series, while Pidcock also claimed victory in the East Klondike GP round of the HSBC UK Spring Cup Series.
The team have twice before participated in the OVO Energy Tour of Britain, with Owain Doull finishing third overall and winning the Points Classification in 2015.
Commenting on the news, Pidcock said: "I’m delighted to have an opportunity to ride in the Tour of Britain with Team Wiggins. Obviously the team has a strong affiliation with the race, with Sir Brad being a former winner and Owain’s impressive ride in 2015.
"I am really looking forward to mixing it up against some of the big UCI WorldTour teams again. Riding in front of British fans is always a great experience and hopefully our team can give them plenty to cheer about over the course of the race."
This year’s race will feature Wales’ Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas as part of a strong Sky team, which includes four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome.
The first stage will run from Pembrey Country Park to Llandovery, where there is a sprint point, before following the A40 to Trecastle and Sennybridge. A deviation will see the riders contest King of the Mountains points at the summit in the Brecon Beacons above Defynnog before the riders swoop down to the A470 at Libanus. The race will then proceed towards Brecon and make its way through Pencelli, Talybont and Llangynidr before bypassing Crickhowell and Abergavenny and heading south to Newport.
The eighth and final stage of the race finishes in London on Sunday, December 9. Live coverage of the stages will be carried by ITV4 as well as highlights programmes every evening.
