Fire crews from Llandrindod Wells were among those called to a serious road traffic collision on Monday evening during which a lorry caught fire.

Crews from Newtown and Llanfyllin also attended the incident on the A489 at Caersws around 8:04pm.

A lorry had collided with a tree, overturned, and caught fire. Firefighters used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, and thermal imaging cameras to bring the blaze under control.

One person was taken to hospital by road ambulance.

The incident required a coordinated response, with Dyfed-Powys Police and the ambulance service also at the scene. Fire crews worked for more than two hours before leaving at 10:27pm.
