Ystradgynlais is gearing up for the "Big Weekend" which is due to kick off on Friday.
The weekend, which lasts from until Sunday, June 17, will focus on three major events in the town which focus providing "music for all" from a wide variety of live musicians.
The events have been organised by Discover Ystradgynlais - the same team who brought actor Michael Sheen, who starred as the White Rabbit in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and Aro in the Twilight Saga, to their town’s Christmas light switch on last year.
The first event of the weekend, which is being sponsored by Celtic Minor Golf Club and Plas Y Rhos Wedding Venue, will be an evening of "Gin and Jazz" in a large marquee at The Gorsedd Park.
Jack Anderson, Sadie Jayne, and The Morrison Big Band will all perform at the £10 event in the marquee, originally developed to host the 1954 Eisteddfod of Wales.
The Saturday will feature free "family fun entertainment" with "Buskagynlais" - which includes buskers dotted around the town, choirs, a fun fair, crafts stalls at the Welfare Hall and other activities in the Gorsedd.
A spokeswoman from Discover Ystradgynlais, who described it as a "day not to be missed", said that refreshments will also be on sale including from a BBQ, sweets, cold and hot drinks and alcohol.
The spokeswoman said: "All mini buskers are invited to take to the National Showcaves Junior Busking Stage, to sing, play an instrument, recite a poem or tell a joke. There’s no need to book a slot, all children are welcome to show off their talents. Pre-school children can visit the ‘Baby Buskers’ tent, hosted by Little Steps Child Care Centre, to create a musical instrument and perform to their hearts content.
"Thanks to sponsorship from local businesses, TLT Penrhos, The Old Temp Fish Bar, Cofion Cynnes, Merlins, Kindle House, Pethau Plant, Motorrad Tours, Richards Pharmacy, Classy Curtains and Little Steps Child Care Centre, there will be no fee to enter the family friendly fete."
The weekend will finish with the Grand Proms in the Gorsedd which will include the classical violinist Lucy J Morgan who has previously collaborated with Bryn Teriel, Shirley Bassey at Glastonbury and Take That in their Rule the World video.
For the final event, tickets are either available for £20 per person with a seat provided inside the marquee or at £5 per person for those who want to bring their own seat or a picnic blanket.
The spokeswoman said: "It will showcase some of the best musicians and performers in Wales with dynamic divas Rebecca Evans and Shan Cothi, directed by Alwyn Humphreys, and featuring Lucy Morgan’s String Orchestra."
All tickets are available through the box office at the Welfare Hall which you can be contacted on 01639 843 163 - no tickets are needed for "Buskagynlais".
To keep up to date with the events planned, make sure you follow the Discover Ystradgynlais Facebook page or head over to their website.
The spokeswoman said: "Visitors are welcome to use the main town car parks on Heol Maes-y-Dre. There is also a large overflow car park at Ystradgynlais Rugby Club on Ynyscedwyn Road, which is only a short walk from The Gorsedd, or Tesco Ystradgynlais which is on the Town’s main bus route."
