A popular charity quad bike run will set off from Aberedw later this month in support of Guide Dogs Cymru.
The event takes place on Sunday, November 23, with riders leaving the village at 10:30am following registration from 9am. Participants can enjoy tea, coffee and biscuits before the start, with a basket meal and prize raffle awaiting them at the Seven Stars Inn at the finish. Entry costs £25 per rider and £15 per passenger, including food and raffle entry.
A similar run last year, which began in Llanelwedd, raised an impressive £1,285 for the charity and attracted 48 quad bikes over five hours. Organisers say this year’s route will be slightly shorter but no less scenic, with riders making a stop at Llewellyn’s Cave, the site where the last sovereign Prince of Wales is said to have spent his final night before being killed at the Battle of Orewin Bridge in 1282.
Adding a familiar face to proceedings, local guide dog Farley will once again be on hand to greet participants before they set off.
Ruth Evans, Community Fundraising Development Manager for Guide Dogs Cymru, said: “People recognise the difference that Farley has made to his owner Heather, and this event will help to fund the guide dogs of the future.”
Guide Dogs Cymru provides life-changing mobility services for adults, children and young people with sight loss across Wales, helping them to maintain independence and freedom.
