FARMERS in Powys are being urged to report any suspected cases of a disease
which has caused birth defects and miscarriages in livestock in England.
The Schmallenberg virus has been identified on 83 farms in England by Monday, February 27, with five positive cases diagnosed in cattle and 78 in sheep.
Concern over the outbreak in England, of the diseases which has caused devastation on farms in mainland Europe, especially Germany, has led to headlines in the national press.
There are no reported cases in Wales as yet thought there has been one reported case in Gloucestershire.
