Crickhowell Literary Festival is thrilled to be back once again for its 6th annual Festival after a two-year hiatus. The 2021 Festival will be kicking off in one week’s time and will run for five days from Wednesday 13 to Sunday, October 17.

Promising the most ambitious Festival yet, over 50 events are being held across seven venues in the heart of historic Crickhowell.

Festival director and owner of Book-ish, Emma Corfield-Walters, is delighted to be welcoming festival-goers back to Crickhowell after the isolation we have endured over the past two years.

“Books have sustained many of us during that time so it’s only fitting that they bring us back together again," said Emma.

"There is a great power in literature to inspire audiences to connect.”

This year’s programme is set to shine, featuring best-selling authors and acclaimed academics, local literary legends and the latest debut voices.

Wednesday evening will kick off the five-day Festival with readings by renowned poet Pam Ayres.

Thursday will bring in Emma Stonex, author of several best-selling women’s fiction novels, followed by award-winning comedian Robin Ince who will be discussing his new book about scientific curiosity.

Friday will be a mix of workshops and author events, including this year’s Booker-nominated writer Mary Lawson, and SAS legend Chris Ryan, with the day ending in a Festival Literary Supper with Patricia Highsmith.

Saturday and Sunday’s events will cover all genres and interests, packing an intellectual punch from local authors and professors as well as a crime-fiction feast for our murder mystery lovers.

The festival will wrap up on Sunday with unique events such as Afternoon Tea with Vampires and Poems and Pints at a local microbrewery, Treebeards.

Tickets have been selling fast, with several events nearly sold out. Tickets will not be guaranteed at the door, so literary lovers are being urged to take a browse through the event programme online and book in your events to ensure your spot is reserved.
