A traffic cone has appeared atop of the Duke of Wellington Monument in Brecon Town Centre today.

It’s not clear how it got there or how it was placed up there.

Construction workers have been seen looking up at the Duke’s new orange hat confused at how it got there.

Some people believe with his high vantage point that the Duke has been made head of the ongoing town centre works, or perhaps promoted to traffic management to oversee the backed up traffic on the Bulwark due to the temporary traffic lights!

The statue was erected in 1856 by Breconian John Evans Thomas, four years after the Duke’s death.

We’re not sure if the traffic cone is a new fashion statement by the Duke or if it has been forced upon him.

More updates unlikely to follow.
