The Army Cadet Force (ACF) in Gwent and Powys is hosting their annual Rorke’s Drift Concert after a three-year delay.
The 23rd concert in the series was delayed by adverse weather in 2020 and then by the pandemic.
This unique concert will play host to Cadets from around the United Kingdom, from the Bugles of County Durham to the Pipers of Scotland, in the performance in Theatr Brycheiniog, which has been promoting music in the Cadet Force for 23 years and is an annual success story in mid Wales.
On February 25 it will bring together not only the musicians in the cadets from around Wales but from further afield, and this year will host musicians from The Prince of Wales Band, The Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, The Mercian Band, The Nottinghamshire Band of the Royal Engineers, the Regimental Band, Black Watch ACF, Dorset ACF, Durham ACF, Derbyshire ACF, Hampshire and Isle of Wight ACF and Lincolnshire ACF, along with musicians from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Royal Air Force Cadets.
The host of the concert, Captain Adrian Beckett, a musician serving with the Army in London, has hosted all 23 concerts and is more than excited to be appearing on stage with nearly 100 cadet musicians once again.
“This is an amazing yearly event that saw a concert at Theatr Brycheiniog each year it has been open until the rain came in 2020 and then the pandemic stopped us performing," said Captain Beckett. "I have been very fortunate to be surrounded by some amazingly talented musicians from the Cadet Forces of the UK. All of the cadets are very much looking forward to hosting their musical friends at the theatre in Brecon. During the 23 years, nearly 1000 young men and women of the Cadet Forces have sat on the stage and entertained 6000 members of the community. I believe this to be an amazing achievement so I know by coming back after a 3 year break that this will be a very special evening."
Some tickets are still available and can be ordered by contacting the box office at Theatr Brycheiniog.
