Members of Cantorion Llandrindod travelled to the Southbank Centre in London for the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards.

The event recognised achievements in classical music, with Cantorion shortlisted for the Inspiration Award, which celebrates the work of non-professional musical groups nationwide. The recipient was chosen by public vote.

The evening was a glorious celebration and the choir warmly congratulate the winners, Kirkcaldy Orchestral Society, who won their category, sponsored by Stainer and Bell.

Cantorion thank Ty Cerdd and the Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charity, which have provided essential support and funding enabling the choir to bring forgotten, rare and new repertoire, as well as the well-known and familiar, to their audiences. They also thank all who voted for them, their home community of Llandrindod Wells and the surrounding villages and countryside, their host church of Holy Trinity, families and friends, and BBC Wales for their support.

The occasion was broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on Friday, March 13, and will be available to view on the Royal Philharmonic Society website.

Cantorion Llandrindod will be hosting a “Come and Sing” Vivaldi’s Gloria on March 21, and their spring concert, Can You Feel the Love, on May 16. For more information, visit: www.cantorion-llandrindod.org
