PEOPLE can find out more about plans for 54 houses and flats on land near the cemetery in Llandrindod Wells at a public exhibition.
The event at the town’s Trefonnen Primary School is organised by Asbri Planning which is preparing a planning application, to be submitted to Powys council, on behalf of Hale Construction Ltd and Newydd Housing Associates.
Barrie Davies, of Asbri Planning, said: "It is a drop in session that will allow residents and other interested parties to call in at any time between 3.30pm-7pm to view the latest plans and to ask questions of myself, the contractor, the housing association and the project architect. We have written to local residents and interested parties inviting them to come along."
The meeting has been organised following discussions between the planning agents, local residents and Llandrindod Town Council.
The plans would see 18 one-bedroom flats built while there would be a mixture of two, three and four bedroom houses.
All the flats would be available for rent as social housing. The estate will have 94 parking spaces for the 54 properties.
The proposed site is next to the cemetery and Holcombe Drive is to the west.
It is currently undeveloped land and hedges, including blackthorn, bramble and hawthorn, and trees form its boundaries.
An application to close a right of way, which runs along the site’s northern boundary, connecting the site with Holcombe Drive to the north, is also expected to be submitted. The applicants say the right of way is no longer in use.
The closing date for comments as part of a public consultation, before the application is submitted, has also been extended to Wednesday, January 31.
The plans and supporting documents can be viewed at http://www.asbriplanning.co.uk/statutory-pre-application-consultation/ithon-road-llandrindod-wells/
The public exhibition takes place on Thursday, January 25 in the community room at Trefonnen Primary School, Llandrindod from 3.30pm to 7pm.
