Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service have said they are making ‘good progress’ on the on-going fire in Powys.

Yesterday, fire crew services responded to a wildfire on Hanter Lane, Presteigne.

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service told The Brecon and Radnor Express: “At 12.26pm on Wednesday, 22nd July, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Presteigne, Knighton, Hay On Wye, Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells, Rhayader, Talgarth, Crickhowell and Llanidloes Fire Stations were mobilised to a wildfire on the hillside at Hanter Lane, Presteigne.

“Crews are making good progress by monitoring hotspots and tackling the fire using hose reel jet beaters and napsacks.

“The water bowser is in attendance to keep supplies replenished.

“This incident is currently ongoing.”
