Residents of Brecon will have the chance to explore a range of health and community services at a free well-being event at St Mary's Church next month.
The event, which will take place on Wednesday, November 12 from 10am to 2pm, is part of the county-wide ‘Keeping Healthy in Powys‘ initiative, a joint project between Powys County Council and Powys Teaching Health Board. Its aim is to strengthen communities and give individuals access to the support and resources they need to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.
With multiple organisations gathered in one place, attendees can learn about local services, initiatives, and resources tailored to their needs, while also meeting others in the community and building connections. Organisations already signed up include PAVO, Powys County Council, Powys Teaching Health Board, Severn Wye Energy, Care & Repair Powys, and Alzheimer’s Society Cymru.
Cllr Richard Church, Cabinet Member for Legal and Regulatory Services, said: "It's crucial that we host events such as these, so we can continue to support our communities, provide the correct resources, and help bring people together, giving residents the opportunity to see what services are available, that they may not be aware of.
"These events are free to attend, so why not drop in to your nearest and explore what is available to you?"
The Keeping Healthy in Powys programme also runs in Machynlleth on Wednesday, October 8, at Y Plas, and in Newtown on Friday, October 24, at Hafan Yr Afon.
Organisations wishing to take part can sign up for free by emailing [email protected] and and further information is available at: https://en.powys.gov.uk/wellbeingevents
