A garden centre in Three Cocks has raised £1,505.83 for Macmillan Cancer Support through two events.

The Old Railway Line Garden Centre held its annual Macmillan Coffee Morning on September 25, raising £339.83.

A week later, its Macmillan Quiz & Curry Night brought in another £1,166 through ticket and raffle sales.

The quiz saw teams compete in a general knowledge challenge while enjoying a homemade curry, with customers also able to buy raffle tickets during the evening.

Garden centre founder and quiz master Mark Cleary said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the amount we’ve raised for Macmillan this year. Both the Coffee Morning and Quiz & Curry Night were fantastic occasions, and it’s wonderful to see our customers getting behind these events and helping us raise such a brilliant total.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along, bought raffle tickets, donated and supported us.”

Retail and Events Manager Matthew Lewis said: “It’s fantastic to see how much support there is for our fundraising events. The Macmillan Coffee Morning and Quiz & Curry Night are always great occasions, but knowing that they’ve helped us raise more than £1,500 for such an important charity makes them even more special.

“A huge thank you goes to our team for putting the events together and, of course, to everyone who came along and supported us. We simply couldn’t achieve totals like this without our customers and local community getting behind us.”

The Old Railway Line has more fundraising and community events planned over the coming months, including family and festive activities.

The garden centre is also due to host a Spooky Halloween Walk and a programme of Christmas events.
