Learners at Ysgol Maesydderwen are celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE and BTEC results.

The school said the results reflected the commitment, determination and hard work shown by Year 11 learners throughout their time at the school.

Headteacher Phil Grimes congratulated the year group and said the results were about more than grades.

“Today is about much more than the grades they have achieved; it is an opportunity to celebrate the young people they have become and the qualities they have demonstrated throughout their journey with us,” he said.

“Every learner’s journey is different, and behind each set of results is an individual story of effort, progress and achievement.

“I am extremely proud of what our learners have accomplished and, equally importantly, of the personal qualities they have developed along the way.”

Mr Grimes also praised parents, carers and staff for their contribution to the results, paying particular tribute to teaching staff for their commitment to supporting pupils.

As learners prepare to move on to their next steps, the school said they would be continuing into its sixth form, progressing to college, starting apprenticeships or pursuing other pathways.

Mr Grimes added: “I am confident they do so with ambition and a strong belief in their abilities.

“Their GCSE results represent an important achievement, but they are also the beginning of the next chapter.”

He said the school looked forward to seeing the young people continue to demonstrate “aspiration, resilience, respect, responsibility and creativity” as they take on the opportunities ahead.
