Hay Town Council are searching for an individual to become the new voice of their beloved town.

The Council has said they are seeking a charismatic, confident, and clear-voiced individual to fill the role.

“Whether you’re a performer, a history enthusiast, or simply someone who loves community spirit, this is your chance to ring the bell and proclaim the news across the streets of Hay!” said a spokesperson for the Town Council.

Some inspiration for any budding Town Criers!

Duties of the role include:

• Announcing town events, festivals, and official proclamations.

• Representing Hay at local and regional functions.

• Donning traditional regalia (robes, bell, and tricorn hat provided!).

• Entertaining residents and visitors with style, wit, and historic flair.

They are looking ideally for a welsh speaker who is loud, has a stage presence, a love for local history, and available on weekends, holidays and civic occasions. Performance or public speaking experience is a bonus, but not essential.
