A Hay-on-Wye writer soon to be 100 years old is celebrating with a last public performance in St Mary's Church.

Lynn Trowbridge was a member of the Hay Writers' Circle for many years, as well as being the chairperson for over a decade. In the role, she helped encourage, publish, support and develop future writers of Hay.

Those who wrote with Lynn recount tales of her calling them up to remind them about their next meeting, while also asking: “Darling, have you written something new?”

Over her time as a writer, Lynn has appeared at the Hay Festival, giving audiences fine, memorable readings. She retired from the writing circle a few years ago to spend time publishing her two books but remained a friend of the group.

One of those books is an autobiography, titled A Life is What You Get. Published in 2015, Lynn will talk briefly about her book, and share some highlights and humour of a fascinating and at times harrowing life. After the talk, the audience is invited to ask questions.

To complement the evening there will be some wartime music favourites, led by Terry Watson and Fr Richard and, at Lynn’s request, soprano Catherine Hughes will sing two beautiful sacred hymns.

Tickets cost £5.00 at the door.
