Powys residents have raised concerns about piles of recycling which went uncollected on the side of the road for two weeks running.

Several residents of Dolau were left frustrated when their recycling was not collected for two Fridays in a row - April 15 and 22.

One resident described the waste on the A488, which included plastics, glass and food waste as “a growing health hazard” due to grazing animals and vermin.

She said that residents who reported the issue on the day were told it would be another week before it could be collected, adding that ‘no effort’ had been made by Powys County Council to rectify the situation.

A spokesperson for Powys County Council said on Monday (April 25): “We were aware of the missed collections in Dolau, caused due to staff shortages over the bank holiday and to sickness.”

The spokesperson added that arrangements had already been made to collect the remaining recycling on Monday afternoon.
