Brecon Mountain Rescue Team was delighted when local Indian Restaurant, Zeera’s hosted a fantastic fundraising evening for them on Tuesday, April 16.

The sold-out event raised an incredible £1,000 for the team.

Brecon Mountain Rescue Team member, Graham Bailey, commented: “Zeera’s held a brilliant evening in aid of our Team, and we are very grateful for their support.

“The food was excellent as always, and owner Emon and his staff were superb hosts.  Everyone had a great evening, and we are also grateful to David Meredith for helping to organize the event, and for his support.”

Events such as this are a vital part of the team’s annual fundraising activities.  Brecon Mountain Rescue Team is an emergency service staffed by 60 volunteers and funded entirely by donations. Mountain rescue services are free to those in need because the teams are staffed by volunteers.

However, equipment, vehicles and maintaining a headquarters all cost money, and the team volunteers must raise sufficient funds to maintain the service. It costs approximately £55,000 each year to keep Brecon Mountain Rescue Team operational.
