THE axe is set to fall on a small Breconshire primary school after a review has concluded it should close.

However, there was relief in Radnorshire with the same review recommending that Nantmel Church in Wales primary and Llanfihangel Rhydithon County Primary in Dolau be spared from closure.

A recommendation to go before the county council's new cabinet, when it meets in July, is suggesting the council begin a formal consultation to close Cwmdu Church in Wales Primary School near Crickhowell.
