King Charles III has today marked the one-year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's passing, by revealing an unseen portrait of his late mother.

The chosen photograph shows the Queen at an official portrait sitting in 1968 aged 42.

It's been one year since the Queen passed away in Balmoral Castle at the age of 96.

King Charles III said: "In marking the first anniversary of Her late Majesty's death and my accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us. I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service to you all."

His message, both audio and written, was signed Charles R.

Today, Prince William and Princess Katherine visited West Wales, where they commemorated the life of the late queen with a small private service at St Davids Cathedral.
