A CHURCH in Crickhowell is facing closure unless it raises the £60,000 needed for a new lighting system. St Edmund's Church in Crickhowell is hoping to raise the money before December so that it can comply with its insurance policy and the church can remain open. If the money is not raised in time then the church's dated lighting system will mean it will no longer be able to keep its doors open as it will not hold an up to date electrical certificate. The new lighting system is the start of a larger development project which Parochial Church Council (PCC) member Julian Steadman hopes will make the church more accessible to everyone: "We aim to make St Edmunds much more user friendly for both our local community and to the many people who visit our ancient church." A large amount of money has already been raised and PCC members are hopeful the work will commence before the end of September.
