Llanwrtyd Wells is preparing to fly the flag for Wales after being named the only Welsh entrant in the 2026 Britain in Bloom finals.

The town, home to around 850 people, has reached the national competition after the Llanwrtyd Wells Bloom group secured a gold award in the RHS Wales in Bloom competition in 2025.

Volunteers have spent the past six months preparing the town ahead of the Britain in Bloom judges’ visit on July 30.

The group hopes to highlight Llanwrtyd Wells’ heritage, as well as its community gardens and green projects.

The town recently hosted a successful National Garden Scheme open weekend, attracting 131 visitors and raising funds for charity. The High Sheriff of Powys will also attend the judging event.
